October is looming just around the corner and I have to admit I have already purchased several bags of candy. Maybe four…And I don’t get a single trick or treater at my door.

But I can’t help myself. I love everything about Halloween - so much so that a mere day or two of celebrating is simply not enough for me. I call for an entire month.

Thus, what I call Octobermas was born. For the last two years, I planned at least one Halloween related activity for every day of the month. And for the last two years, I have failed. Work bullshit, or illness, or some other dumb thing has come up, and I failed in my quest for consistency.

But this year, in the year of our Lord, 2025, I refuse to fail. October 2025 needs to come out in a blaze of glory, because the world is dumb and sad, and we all deserve a little bit of happiness right now.

I have carefully mapped out and revised my Octobermas 2025 map a few times now, and I think it is finally ready to announce. The map would be full of three movies per day, but sadly, I must work around library land. Somebody has to earn the cat food. You’ll find a weird combination of childhood favorites, adult favorites, a few movies I would like to revisit, along with some newer movies I desperately need to catch up on. And yes, my activities include lego and coloring, because I am a child wrapped inside a hobbit body.

I spent this last Sunday binge watching M. Night Shyamalan’s best while cursing over tangled orange string lights, and I had an absolute blast. As I type this, I am watching the original Evil Dead, in all its glorious gore. Completing Octobermas is a lot of work (and money!), but this way I’m guaranteed to love every day of my favorite month.

A lot of people and events are sucking ass right now, but your holiday retreat doesn’t have to.
